LONDON -- Hollywood based Brit producer Graham King, Channel 4 drama chief and Film4 head Tessa Ross and actor Patrick Stewart are among those honored in the U.K.'s New Year's honors list, dished out by the Queen.
Ross is heralded a Citizen of the British Empire (CBE) while the Oscar winning King grabs an Order of the British Empire. Stewart takes a knighthood for his services to drama, making him a Knight.
New Zealander Peter Jackson becomes a Knight Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit.
"I never imagined a lad from North London would be recognized in this way for following his dream," King said. "It is an honor beyond words and a great privilege that I hope will inspire others to continue to strive towards achieving their goals and believing that everything is possible."
King moved to the U.S. in 1982 and scored an Oscar for "The Departed" in 2007.
Ross was an executive producer on "Slumdog Millionaire," having championed the film and its development within her filmmaking division.
Stewart is well known on both sides of the pond for his television role as Captain Jean-Luc Picard in "Star Trek: The Next Generation" and as Charles Xavier in the "X-Men" franchise.
