Yeah, I didn't have too much trouble with my tier equipped Mage and
Druid in Cata, although of course the Mage died more often than the
Druid. Now both the Mage and Druid are virtually invincible when
confronted by any mob outside of an instance.
But leveling my ret Pally was another matter -- I just ran him up from
lvl 40 doing nothing but questing. This means not only no epics, but
hardly even blues, although he did have heirlooms. That didn't bother
him when he hit Northrend at 68, but he had real problems in Vashj'ir
at first when he hit 80, even with full heirloom gear. However, he is
now 82 and nothing seems able to stop him. He has already replaced the
heirloom chest and weapon. He still has heirloom shoulders, cloak and
helmet. My biggest concern now is that he is likely to hit 85 before he
even gets out of Hyjal.
Next in line is the Priest. He will level as shadow, but his main job
will eventually be a guild healer.
