My hunter (being my main and the best geared character at the end of WotLK)
and my warlock (reasonably well geared, a few epics but not as good as my
hunter) found questing in Vashj'ir pretty easy and quested through the
Cata zones pretty much in stride. I did find that I no longer end my warlock
fights at 100% health and mana (mana is still 100, but health isn't), mostly
due to the bigger health pool and the nerf to drain life I guess. While I
could still chain pull in Vashj'ir at 80 and fight 4 or 5 mobs
simultaneously, that is no longer true in Deepholm. While it may work with
some mobs, I've also come up against situations where a pair of mobs beat me
to pulp. Still, things went smoothly and not much slower than farming
dailies at 80 in WotLK.
After bringing my Shaman from 73 to 80 through /lfg and a little questing in
Sholozaar during the (short) queues he has now gathered 150% bonus XP so I
took him to Hyjal. Boy can I tell he's in levelling gear. Thanks to Earth
Shield and Riptide he is near on impossible to kill, but it takes ages and
close to my full mana pool to kill an entry level quest mob.
I do have dual spec for solo questing but haven't used that since Howling
Fjord because even in resto spec I killed stuff fairly quickly, but I might
need to reconsider if things stay the way they are.
On the plus side, I have replaced about 5 items already and raised my
average iLvl from 116 to 156 and should hopefully reach the required 226 or
so to use the /lfg tool again by the time I hit 81.
I guess that by then I will be faster at killing stuff, too, as I probably
just feel the effects of the gear reset at 80.
I remember the BC gear reset, but both then and now, it was mainly noticable
by the frequency with which old items were replaced. This is the first time
that I notice my inability to kill stuff in a reasonable time.
Oh well, another half level and I should be fine again.
