Well, Mark, best of luck and don't be a stranger. Are you still
playing D2 at all?
I'm curious as to what you mean when you say that you weren't
"entirely satisfied with the way Blizzard were
making some of the decisions". Are you talking PvE? PvP?
I'm curious, because I'm getting there myself. All of my level 80s in
Wrath (and now level 85s in Cata) are healers. I gave this "triage"
thing a try, but I simply don't like it. I don't like that I can't
save anyone anymore. I don't like how completely marginalized healing
has become in Cata.
In Cata I feel exactly like a robot. Tank takes pre-determined <Damage
X>. I cast pre-determined <Heal Y>. Any other heal will make me OOM.
Any other damage taken (i.e., someone didn't interrupt), and we will
wipe. We all do the pre-determined damage-and-heal dance. Any
deviation from this will result in damage too great to heal. If
performing a pre-determined, pre-programmed <Damage> and <Heal> script
isn't the very definition of being a machine, I don't know what is.
Maybe it was silly (I guess) that, before, I could heal, if I crit,
almost an entire lifebar with one heal, but I think it's gone too far
the other way. Raiding is . . . challenging, especially if one member
is "sub-par". We have three groups raiding. One is doing very well.
The other two are wiping on Magmaw. The DPS can't get the parasites
down fast enough so they are everywhere. I like my guild; these people
are my friends. I don't want to have to go to a raiding guild, but
wiping for four hours on Magmaw simply isn't fun.
It's also rather telling that we have 572 guild members, and we often
have to call raids because no one wants to heal.
So I'm getting bored. Bored of dailies, bored of Heroics, bored of
calling raids because we can't get any healers and/or tanks, bored of
wiping on Magmaw. Blah.
