GADGETZEN TIMES – Neutral town, neutral news.

World:

Murloc Invasions! Various coastal regions have come under Murloc attack and occupation. Some of our top speculators speculate that this may be a result of the recent Naga raids. The murlocs may be a first wave attack to weaken our defenses, or may themselves be refugees fleeing from an ever expanding Naga empire. One thing is for sure, these things are nasty and aren't too friendly. Each toehold isn't very powerful, but the scope of these invasions is impressive.

They have established themselves in the following areas in the Eastern Kingdoms: Longshore, Westfall (Stormwind); Tranquil Shore, Eversong (Silvermoon); North Coast, Trisfal Glades (Scourge); Western Strand, Hillsbrad; Bluegill Marsh, Wetlands (Ironforge); Vile Reef, of the coast of Stranglethorn Vale; Misty Reed Strand, Swamp of Sorrows (Green Dragonflight and Orgrimmar)

In Kalimdor:
Twilight Shore, Darkshore (Darnassus, Deth'ryll, Twilight's Hammer); Silting Shore, Azuremyst (Exodar); Blacksilt Shore, Bloodmyst (Axxarien); Dreadmurk Shore, Duskwallow (Theramore)

Northern Kalimdor:

Gnarlpine Defeated! Thanks to the efforts of the Sentinels of Darnassus the corrupt Gnarlpine tribe has been completely defeated. While the Night Elves are above utter slaughter of the tribe, the majority has been locked away in the former Druidic Ban'ethil Barrow Den where they can easily be kept in check.
(Darnassus: -5 army, -2 magic; Gnarlpine: destroyed)

Stillpine Rescue Attempt Defeated! The Stillpine were allowed to send their army through Exodar lands in an attempt to rescue those captured by the Bristlelimb last month. However the assault proved an absolute disaster as the larger Bristlelimb army proved ready. As a result of this disaster the rampaging moonkin the Stillpine have had recent trouble with have successfully taken control of Stillpine Hold's cave.
(Stillpine: -6 army, -3 magic; Bristlelimb: -3 army; -1 magic)

Worgen in Ashenvale Defeated! The worgen in northern Ashenvale have been defeated not by Darnassus sentinels, but rather forces from Jaednar who have claimed that with the Worgen's insurrection the land no longer belonged to Darnassus and was open for grabs. Darnassus claims this to be an act of aggression, but have yet to mobilize for war.
(Worgen: -Ashenvale Forces; Jaednar: -8 army, -3 magic)

Ashenvale Border Disputes! Skirmishes have erupted in Ashenvale between local Darnassus and Orgrimmar forces. Both sides have blamed the other for the attacks, and neither refuses to back down. While the high commands of both sides have ensured continued peace, local commanders have begun taking the initiative with increasingly bloody raids.
(Darnassus: -1 army; Orgrimmar: -1 army)

Central/Southern Kalimdor:
Kolkar Raids! Centaur raiders have struck out from Kolkar Crag in Durotar at Sen'jin Village and the Valley of Trials. Both attacks were turned back before any real casualties could take place. While Khan Dez'hepah has assured Thrall that the attack was not sanctioned by his command, these raids have shown how little command he has and how hard-pressed the centaur pockets are becoming.

Scourge Occupy Razorfen Downs! It has become aware that the Scourge has indeed made a presence in Kalimdor via the Razorfen. The ancient capital of the quilboar race has become the stronghold of the only scourge presence in Kalimdor. With the Horde already fighting the Scourge in Lordaeron and Northrend, its believed the Scourge will attempt to open a third front against the Horde in Kalimdor, though the Razorfen response to this predicament has yet to be seen.
(New Nation: Scourge (Kalimdor)

Bloodfury wiped out by Thunder Bluff! In a move to gain control of the strategic area of the charred vale in the Stonetalon Mountains, Thunder Bluff has moved a great many forces in to pacify the harpy presence there. After several skirmishes the Bloodfury were besieged in their weak strongholds and annihilated. While the move will not net the Taurens any real economic benefits, it puts them in a better regional position. The Witchwing have taken the destruction of the Bloodfury as an act of aggression and have begun attacking farmers and stray adventurers along their border with the Horde.
(Thunder Bluff: -9 Army, -5 magic Bloodfury: destroyed)

Lordaeron:
Amani War Stalls! The war between the Blood Elves and Amani Trolls has stalled into a bloody guerilla campaign perpetrated by both sides. Neither has amassed a sizable force to launch a major offensive as of yet, both seem content letting daily bloody skirmishes take tolls on the opposing side. But this style of combat may prove most useful to the blood elves who, despite the Third War, have recovered an economy capable of winnign a war of attrition against the Amani, especially when the Tauren have sent nearly ¼ of their army to aid them. Perhaps the most distressing news of the war are reports of small troll death squads sneaking deep into Elvish territory killing few, but invoking much terror and forcing extra forces to remain in the rear.
(Silvermoon:-12 Army, -1 Navy, -2 Air, -8 Magic , Thunderbluff; -3 Army, -1 Magic Amani: -10 Army, -1 navy, -2 air, -9 magic)

Western Scarlet Forces Near Defeat! A counterattack lead by Grand Crusader Saidan Dathrohan was literally stopped cold by the Archlich Kel'thuzad himself as masses of Scourge poured against the human defenders. Dathrohan was forced to retreat with his meager forces to the walled town of Hearthglen. At the same time Marduk Blackpool led raids against the areas between Hearthglen and the Scarlet Monastery, denying use of the few remaining arable land in Lordaeron. The ever present attacks have pushed the human defenders to the brink of exhaustion as nightly raids continue to shorten supplies.
(Scarlet Crusade: -21 Army, -4 Magic, -1g/t; Scourge: -13 Army, -1 air, -2 magic)

Red Dragonflight Saves Scarlet Monastery! The Red Dragons Korialstrasz, Vaelastrasz, and the drake Araelastrasz arrived with a small cadre of dragon forces in northern Lordaeron and were spotted doing battle with scourge forces located outside of the Scarlet Monastery. Reports have surfaced that the great Frost Wyrm Sapphiron was greatly wounded by this attack, and many of his underlings were killed. A new powerful Scourge lich was killed in the battle. The Red Dragonflight also saw casualties, but the surprise of the attack led to fewer losses than should have been expected. While the Red Dragonflight was seen retreating after the attack, scourge forces hesitated on moving onto the monastery.
(Scourge: -new hero, - Sapphiron(1 turn), -5 air; Red Dragonflight: Araelastrasz +1 level, -4 air)

Living Forces Push Far into Eastern Plaugelands! The Scourge seemingly abandoned their defensive positions on the eastern front allowing the Scarlet Crusade to capture Corin's Crossing, and the Argent Dawn to cut off land routes to positions in far eastern plaugelands, linking up with Silvermoon. While attempts to slow the advance via stalling tactics have proved somewhat successful, the lack of undead manpower on this front is certainly showing.
(Scarlet Crusade: -6 army, -2 magic, Argent Dawn: -12 army, -1 air, 4 magic; Scourge: -15 army, -1 air, -4 magic)

Undercity Occupies Crusader's Outpost! Left defenseless and open, Undercity has moved forces in to secure Solliden Farmstead and the Crusader's Outpost in northwest Tirisfal Glade. Local militia forces attempted to hold off the Forsaken, but proved incapable without proper support. Otherwise Undercity has continued to let its enemies destroy one another.
(Undercity: -1 army)

Undercity Assaults Fenris Keep! Using a hastily constructed fleet on Lordamere Lake, the Forsaken have attempted to gain control of this strategic area. Initial assaults on the keep were repulsed, but the outlying islands were captured.
(Undercity: -5 army, -1 magic; Rot Hide: -4 army, -1 magic)

Archmage Argual Goes Crazy; Summons Worgen! It appears the Archmage Arugal had been studying the worgen for quite some time now, and upon word of their arrival in other parts of Azeroth began summoning them himself. He has successfully been able to tame these beasts, but in doing so has seemingly gone mad declaring contempt for Kirin Tor and Forsaken alike. As refugees flee the land that was once part of Dalaran one can only speculate what will occur from this event.
(New nation: Shadowfang; Dalaran: -3 g/t)

Durnholde Under Siege! A combined force from Dalaran and Hillsbrad have assaulted the Syndicate defensive positions in the Hillsbrad Foothills. While the force would be strong enough to defeat Syndicate forces out in the open, the mercenaries instead opted to wall themselves inside the remains of Durnholde Keep which Alliance forces are unable to storm.

Alliance Secures Stromgarde! A combined force from Stromgarde and Kul Tiras have defeated Syndicate forces in the city of Strongarde, and have pushed Syndicate forces farther north. Prince Trollbane has resumed royal duties from the burned out city, while Syndicate forces have returned command over to Lord Perenholde at his personal mansion in Dandred's Fold.
(Stromgarde: -6 Army, -2 magic Kul Tiras: -7 army, -3 magic; Syndicate: -10 army, -4 magic)

Khaz Modan/Azeroth
Thandol Span Secured, Further Dark Iron Attacks Thwarted! In a counter-raid perpetrated by crack Ironforge soldiers and Dalaran mages, Thandol Span was secured before Dark Iron threats against it could be made. Not too long after a similar Dark Iron raid against the Stonewrought Dam was thwarted by local defenders who discovered the plot to blow it up and re-submerge the Wetlands.
(Ironforge: -1 army; Dark Iron: -2 army)

Dragonmaw War Continues! After several small pitched battles the dragonmaw were defeated outside the Algaz Station in the Loch Modan region and Ironforge forces have begun pushing against the Dragonmaw who have utilized the Dun Algaz mountain pass to best defensive measure. The dwarves have been unable to break their own fortifications which were abandoned to the Dragonmaw several years ago. In the Wetlands the Dragonmaw successfully defeated a slightly larger Dwarven army sent against them thanks to the tactics of Warlord Wyrmscale. Once again the Thandol Span and Dun Modr lie within striking distance of Ironforge's enemies.
(Ironforge: -10 army, -5 magic; Dragonmaw: -11 army, -4 magic)

Most Worgen Slaughtered! Archbishob Benedictus has led a combined force of Duskwood Night Watch and Stormwind regulars in an effort to hunt down the Worgen who infest the woods. His efforts have proven most effective and it is believed the last pocket of Worgen reside in the former mine of Roland's Doom.
(Stormwind: -10 army, -6 magic; Worgen: -14 Army, -13 magic)

Vul'Gol launch raids against Defias! Perhaps seeing the weakness of the Defias position or simply a desire to spill some blood the Vul'gol ogre tribe launch several sorties against the Defias outpost of Addle's Stead. Thanks to the de facto ceasefire with Stormwind the Defias were able to beat back these attacks, but it has certainly weakened their position in the area.
(Defias: -3 army, -1 magic Vul'gol: -4 army, -1 magic)

Shadowhide and Dark Riders Raid Duskwood! For reasons unknown the shadowhide gnolls and dark riders of Karazahn have crossed over into Duskwood in near unison. The Dark Riders have already been in battle several times with Stormwind forces around Roland's Doom but have turned back before any major confrontation. Reports of several farmsteads farther in Duskwood being attacked with entire families slaughtered have also surfaced.

Horde Attack Defeated by Nobles' Army! In what is being reported to us as a major battle, Stormwind forces consisting mostly of the feudal forces the nobles withheld until recent political compromise (see below) defeated an Old Horde attack on Three Corners. While we have gotten word that casualties are light, the fact that the Old Horde's attack has been staved by the House of Noble's personal forces has most certainly won them "points" with the citizens of Stormwind.
(Stormwind: -4 army, -1 magic; Old Horde: -3 army, -1 magic)

Committee on the Conduct of the War heads Stormwind! Headed by the chief architect of the city of Stormwind, Baros Alexston, the Committee is a political entity created as a compromise between Highlord Fordragon and Lady Prestor. Set up with 7 members including Alexston the Committees job is to investigate Highlord Bolvar's actions and head Stormwind until their decision is reached. The Highlord has put himself under house arrest with the House of Nobles as a show of good faith to the committee. While no decision has yet been made, our political advisors are unable to speculate who they will side with, especially with recent military advances without the Highlord's command.

Twilight's Hammer Activity in Swamp of Sorrows! From our correspondents in Stonard we have heard that Twilight's Hammer cultists have been seen in the region, especially a sizable naval force. How they have been avoiding the Green dragonkin the Horde remains weary of may be a result of the recent murloc invasion.

Southseas:
Proxy War on Tel'Abim! The Bilgewater Cartel has begun hiring mercenaries and adventurers to attack the slowly growing Venture operations on Tel'abim island. The attacks have been minimal at best and the trade coalition has been reassured time and again that these attacks are not direct sanctions of the Bilgewater Cartel, but rather local and personal purchases.

Northrend:
Taunka Under Siege! The scourge in Northrend have launched a surprise attack on Camp Winterhoof, completely disregarding the Taunka capital of Taunka'le Village where the Taunka were expecting an epic battle to determine their fate. As a result the Scourge have opted for a nice siege of the Taunka army where they can sit until the return of the titans, but the Taunka can't. We have reports Orgrimmar has sent an expedition to link up with local forces from Warsong Hold and save the Taunka from defeat.

NPC Diplo:
To Alliance and Horde
From Tuskarr:
We have seen the Taunka come close to falling to the north. We ask to join one of your two pacts in order to ensure our own safety. We have seen what little the Horde has done for the Taunka, but the Alliance has done nothing against the Scourge in Northrend either. We hope should we join one of your pacts this would change. We ask to be swayed to one side or the other.

ooc: Orgrimmar and Gilneas are now open.
