Yes Zygor Guide! I use this ALL the time. One of my good buddies introduced me too it , and i can say that it makes leveling in this game, effin easy!


First, installing the guide is super easy with the installer program. Once you login to play , getting started is just as simple. Now I have personally used this addon to level a Dranei Warrior to level 60 and a Dranei Priest to level 70. Man I really could have used this a while back when i was trying to level up my Night Elf Druid.

It's gotta a new waypoint feature, which ultimately makes Zygor the best choice when it comes to leveling the best leveling addon you can get. If you were like me when WoW first came out , we had to Alt+Tab in and out of the game to look at websites to figure out a quest. Guess what ? With Zygor no more of that BS! The waypoint system literally takes you right to your objectives and back to the quest giver so you dont waste anymore time. Honestly this is one of the best features of the addon, especially if your a n00b! You wont get lost in an unfamiliar world, you'll also find that you complete your quests a lot faster . Zygor groups stuff intelligently, and you end up with some good faction scores to boot

December 11, 2008 - With World of Warcraft being one of the most popular games in the world, it only made sense that someone would eventually make a mouse designed specifically for adventuring in Azeroth. When we got our first look at the official mouse for World of Warcraft, we were fairly impressed, mostly by the potential the peripheral held, but finally getting our hands on it held a different story. Coming out of the gate with a $99 price tag, SteelSeries created a very capable piece equipment to aid you with your gaming needs, but this is something reserved for the most dedicated of WoW players, with an unintuitive and cumbersome experience to the more casual fans out there.

The big appeal of this mouse is that it has 15 buttons ready to be mapped out for all your macros or key bindings, which is absurd to say the least (but in a good way). Along with that, you'll be able to save up to 10 different button configurations through the management software that comes with the mouse, allowing you to quickly jump between different layouts for your different needs, whether it's for different characters, or simply different specs for your avatar. You'll also be able to create and use custom macros that the mouse will remember in game, allowing you to quickly and easily launch a barrage of attacks on unsuspecting chumps. As far as tracking and reaction times go, it's very impressive, with a resolution of 3200 dpi (which you can adjust lower if you'd like in the management program), and a max speed of 65 inches per second. With the technical specs added to the sheer versatility this mouse has to offer, it's easy to see where its appeal comes from.

The mouse uses an aesthetic straight from Azeroth, looking almost like a piece of armor. The surface uses a brushed aluminum appearance, separated by panels down to either end. Through the gaps of these panels, you'll see some illumination, which can be customized to just about any color of the rainbow, granting some slick flair to the overall package. The sides of the mouse use rubberized grips and a patterned molding that wings out at the base of the mouse, acting as a finger rest. The top of the mouse has a whopping seven buttons at your disposal, with the basic left and right buttons, a clickable scrollwheel, and to compliment these three is another set of left and right buttons (right up against either side of the wheel) and two bulkier buttons just below the wheel. The left side has six buttons, including two standard thumb buttons, allowing you to quickly press them with either the tip or ball of your thumb, as well as a four way directional pad. The right side of the mouse offers the least in this lineup, coming in with only two buttons, but it's hardly an issue unless you're either prone to playing with your ring and little fingers or you're left-handed (sorry lefties!)

Naturally, with the sheer amount of buttons, it takes some getting used to, but much of what's featured on the mouse is cramped and oddly placed, making for some frustrating situations at first. Along with that, the molding at the bottom of the mouse isn't as smartly designed as we had hoped. Visually and on paper, it seems like a great addition, but in practice, it causes some issues when using the mouse. Though this molding provides a nice thumb rest, it makes things feel uncomfortable and cramped when it comes to the placement of your ring and little fingers. There aren't a whole lot of options of where to put those two digits, so you're forced to just cram both of them onto this small space. Along with that, the molding makes it difficult to get a solid grip on the mouse as well as making it awkward to properly pick up the mouse, making it sometimes clumsy to deal with. However, just like many new things, it just takes some getting used to, and once you've adjusted to things, it feels much better. It just takes a while to get there.

Another issue comes in the form of the hardware management software, which allows you to assign all of the buttons to different commands. Though it may be fairly simple to more hardcore players, it's far from friendly to the casual crowd. This software doesn't create new buttons that the game automatically recognizes when you log in. Rather, it simply replaces which keys are recognized as what when you're in the game. For example, two of the buttons may not be recognized as generic keys --- they'll be seen as part of your keyboard. This may lead to some confusion and an extra level of involvement and planning when you're setting up your mouse as you'll need to know where you'd like all of your abilities beforehand.

my 7 buttons were the traditional 3, plus a back and forward button on the side for web browsing, along with a maximize and minimize all button for finding those downloaded files on the desktop easier.

I've had more than my share of women back to my pad and most like the dual monitor, custom computer case / lighting, logitech g15 and saitek x52 joystick all lit up. Plate-Armor: Steel Series did an excellent job of making the WoW Gaming Mouse look the part, with segmented plastic and a blushed metal surface that brings to mind epic plate. The fully-customizable led glow beneath the device's carapace is completely ridiculous, yet I find myself messing with color combinations constantly.

The Total Package: A love for packaging? From a gift-giver's perspective, the treasure-chest design of the WoW Gaming Mouse's packaging is sure to bring a grin to any fan of the game upon being unwrapped. It doesn't effect the device's performance, but it beats the hell out of a plain rectangular box.

Easy To Configure: Once you download the driver software, the WoW Gaming Mouse is extremely easy to set up, even for a rather novice macro creator like myself. The default set up provides many useful functions across the device's 15 buttons, from dismounting to setting your spell focus - a mechanic I never really utilized until I started using this mouse. The interface for the drivers, designed to look like a Warcraft window, makes the user feel at home in the unfamiliar environment of a mouse configuration screen.

Packed With Options: Along with copious amount of World of Warcraft-specific macro-creating goodness, the WoW Gaming Mouse also comes with plenty of options to customize performance as well. You can adjust the DPI from 800 to 3200, change the scroll, double click, and win-pointer speeds, and you can even adjust sensitivity individually on the Y and X-axis.

Works Like A Charm: After a slight struggle getting my fingers used to the strange button configuration, I found that I could completely change the way I played the game using the WoW gaming mouse. I was never big on macros previously, but now I cannot imagine living without them, especially on my priest, who can now cast healing on any member of the party with a click of an assigned button. While it's nothing new for players who have already modified the hell out of their UI and set up 200 macros in the game for every possible spell and ability, but for a guy who has pretty much relied on the tools Blizzard gave me for the past 4 years it makes a big difference.

Hated
A Bit Uncomfortable: While using the WoW Gaming Mouse for its intended purpose works well enough, using it outside of Warcraft or other games you may have created macros for is a bit uncomfortable. The additional buttons aren't active outside of the games, leaving you to rub against all of these strange protrusions as you try to go about your day.

Too Much Focus: As an officially licensed product, the WoW Gaming Mouse is pretty much focused on use within World of Warcraft. This is a mouse for the type of person who plays this one game the majority of the time. While the additional buttons can be mapped for other games, more casual players won't be able to do much outside of the supplied Warcraft-themed toolset.

The Steel Series World of Warcraft MMO Gaming Mouse is a tool with a specific purpose. Steel Series makes an entire line of keyboards and mice that are perfect for the normal PC gamer, but this particular product is targeted at one group and one group only. It's more of a companion piece to World of Warcraft than it is anything else, and as such it functions admirably. With the limited functionality outside of World of Warcraft and the $99 price tag, I couldn't recommend it to anyone falling outside of that group. It's lovely in Azeroth, but outside it's just a rather garish-looking, slightly uncomfortable gaming mouse.

If you've a World of Warcraft player in need of a special gift, or are looking to add some stylish functionality to your own game, the Steel Series World of Warcraft MMO Gaming Mouse is an expensive treat.

A Mouse for MMO?

A Closer Look

The first thing I always start with is what comes in the box.  And in special cases such as this one, I comment on the box itself.  The art department over at Blizzard (who I assume designed this box) definitely didn't take the day off when it came to adding their touch to this.  It looks exactly like one of the many chests found in-game, and opens like one too.  Once inside, we find the mouse itself, along with an exclusive WoW TCG game card, a gold inlay coupon for a buy one - get one free tshirt offer, and a book on your mouse.  You know what I didn't find in the box?  The damned software that goes with it.  You have to go online and download it.  Really?  Is it that much more cost effective to just throw in an effin' disc?  You cheap sons of ----

But I'm getting off subject.  The subject is the mouse itself.  The thing is beautiful, to say the least.  While many out there will probably flame me for saying as such, they obviously don't appreciate how WoW this thing really looks.  While it's made out of plastic, it so resembles brushed steel that I had trouble at first believing that it wasn't metal.  The fifteen (yeah, fifteen) programmable buttons located all over this thing have a gunmetal look to them, the look that a brand new polished blade should have.  The body has been etched with the Warcraft logo in a lighter silver just behind the left button on the first of what appears to be dragonscale style plates that make up the rest of the body.  The black rubber thumbrests are "engraved" with what looks like Elven art.

Macros (the other kind of macro) of the WoW mouse

The underside of the mouse consists of the the biggest mouse skates I've ever seen.  Seriously, this thing is meant to slide.  I find it somewhat intersting that they chose to use such large skates for this mouse, it being as light as it is, and wonder where I will be able to find more should these wear out in the future.  Then comes the USB cord that is protruding from the front of the mouse.  In classic SteelSeries style, it has been braided with nylon from end to end.  I think this adds that much more style to the mouse itself, rather than taking attention away from it like it does on some other SS mice.  The last detail I feel the need to comment on is the lighting.  It's a completely useless feature, but at the same time it is what people want.  Blizzard knows how to cash in on a good thing, and lights are it.  But it's what can be done with these that make them special.

The Software

To get to the subject of the lights, first we have to go through the subject of software.  The driver pack that it takes to use this mouse to its full potential wasn't even included in the box.  I guess they figured if you were buying the mouse to play the game, you could cruise on over to the SteelSeries website and download it from them.  Saves them the cost of a disc, I guess.      I downloaded the software and installed it.  Once I had it up and running, I began to get excited.  This could be the most simplified profiling software ever made for a mouse as complicated as this one appeared to be.

I'll begin with the Mouse Properties menu.  If you click on the tab on the left side of the application, it will slide out and allow you to configure this sucker all day long.  Double-click speed, scroll speed, sensitivity, DPI... it's a one stop configure shop.  And down at the bottom is where we get to the goodies on that pretty glow coming from inside the mouse.  With the drop-down color menu you can change the color to damned near any color conceivable.  I've never seen an option like this on any peripheral.  As useless as this light is, it's unbelievably awesome what you can do with it.  You can program the brightness of the color, how fast it pulses (if at all), and have it match the color of anything on your desk.  That's just sick.

The last tab, on the left called Button Assignments, is where all the commands are that are programmed to the mouse buttons.  Each profile can use this tab to adjust commands, DPI, and custom macros that you make up yourself.  Want to program that button to cast Arcane Brilliance on yourself?  Do it.  It's just like being in the game and programming them to your keyboard.  Only it's on your mouse.  It's a freaking artillary of buttons ready to do your bidding.  The main menu of the application shows a picture of the mouse, then a picture of each button in their corresponding directions.  There is a button you can click (which is named for each of these mouse buttons) to adjust the properties of it.  If you click one of them, the Button Assignments tab rolls out and you can select what you want it to do.  And you can completely customize this mouse for ten different profiles.  Don't like what you did to all the buttons, or find that the original setup was what you want instead?  They put a "Restore Defaults" button right in the corner.

You can also input your character information for each profile and the software will look it up, displaying the character name, level, class, and server it is on.  No way you can confuse what each profile is for now.  That being said, I guess this is as good a time as any to test it in the game.  I'm excited to see how much easier it's going to be to control my Warlock with all these buttons.  On a side note, the software for this mouse is not available for Mac OS, only Windows.  Sorry Mac users.  Another thing to blog about, I guess.

I immediately ran into a problem with Macros.  I'm not that big a fan of macros, even if they are one of the best things in the game.  My criticism for using them is how much I hate programming them to different keys.  And this software made it that much more irritating to me.  I use a macro that casts Immolate, then Incinerate with the same button when Alt is held.  It looks like this:

#showtooltip /cast [modifier:alt] Incinerate; Immolate
The problem is that when you input macro information, it records EVERY single key stroke.  This is supposed to simulate the input delays that are used in WoW.  Not only that, but it doesn't support Copy or Paste.  So how exactly am I supposed to input some of my macros?  Damn you, Blizzard.  Or SteelSeries.

So I set a couple of macros to summon my Voidwalker.  I typed in my information, watching as every single thing I hit showed up in the box.  The best part?  Each time I screwed up I had to start from the beginning because Backspace showed up as a keystroke too.  When I finally got my all my keys programmed, which took quite a while seeing as I have a tendency to let my fingers get away from me, I logged into Warcraft to check out my handywork.  The macros worked, but everything I typed in showed up in the text box at the bottom of the chat screen.  Sort of retarded, if you ask me, but whatever.  It got the job done.  I suppose with plenty of time on your hands you could tweak your macros to go unnoticed in this software.

However, key programming to the mouse was flawless, as was the performance of the mouse in the game.  The response time was beautiful at 1200 dpi, and I found the numerous amount of buttons very handy when it came time to battle in the Arena.  I'm sure this is the long way around, but I created macros in the game and assigned them to keys on the keyboard, then used the software to assign those keyboard keys to the mouse.  That way I had all my Fire and Shadow spells at the tips of my fingers.  Casting a curse was as simple as moving a finger to the proper button instead of having to search for an icon on the screen or looking down at the keyboard.

I did find the buttons next to the scroll wheel a little in-the-way, making me have to spread my fingers out farther to stay on the left and right standard clicks.  I got used to this after a while, but I think that simply doing away with those two buttons or moving them would have been an improvement.  And then there was the light inside the mouse.  I have to admit that even as weird as it is having a glowing mouse sitting there, it kind of grew on me after a while.  So I set it to glow blue like my Razer Lycossa to have a more matched set.

Conclusion

Now for a few things outside of Warcraft.  While browsing webpages with this mouse, you have to be careful.  One wrong button can send you to another page, the bottom of the page, or to a whole different website.  I found this out the hard way.  While playing other games that I frequent, I didn't have much trouble not hitting most of the buttons, aside from those two on either side of the scroll wheel.  Other than that, the fact that the software is a pain with macros and you have to download it, I don't have any complaints about this mouse.  It's very adjustable, it looks damned good, and fits the hand beautifully.  The ridges where the "plates" space out allow for extra cooling underhand, so no sweaty palms.  Well, I guess that kind of depends on what sites you frequent.

To conclude, I am very happy with this mouse.  Even though I had my arguments over the useability with the software, I am sure that improvements will come with updates.  I am sure that with some popular profiling software this mouse could be used in many gaming enviornments, but for now I would say that it's natural habitat is Warcraft.  And that is where it belongs.
